The innovation has become increasingly stronger as an engine for business competitiveness, causing a high influence in the Colombian agribusiness sector so that rural companies and productive units focus on the generation and implementation of tools for innovation that allow for the addition of value both to its customers and to the companies themselves. However, there are many rural companies that do not have such innovation tools, resulting in a decrease in their productivity. This is shown by the problem and variable tree. The main finding confirms the strong link, relationship or dependency between the study variables (Innovation Tools and Rural Productive Unit) thanks to the statistical method of association called the Chi Square test, confirming the urgent need for the productive units of the SENA Emprende Rural program to innovate in order to stay and compete in globalized markets.
