The objective of the work was to increase the temperature of water in Tilapia (Oreochromis sp) ponds by using thermal blankets to reduce production time in Popayán, where agroclimatic constraints affect commercial requirements, and there is high demand gastronomic The experiment evaluated for 6 months the growth in weight and height of 20,000 fingerlings, divided into 2 treatments with contrast, each with three repetitions, the fingerlings were received 2 cm with 2 gr on average and delivered 18 cm with 58 gr on average, that evidenced an increase of 45% in the development of the individuals compared with the control pond, the treatments consisted in establishing greenhouse ponds at 22 ºC and greenhouse ponds and a thermal blanket at 26.5 ºC. The best results in terms of growth were obtained with treatment 3. The control pond presented the lowest results in size and weight indexes with respect to the literature and compared with the other treatments; in each treatment, the incidence of the increase in temperature over oxygen and pH was evaluated, evidencing that this does not affect the tolerance ranges of the parameter.
