Abstract

In this technological age any Faculty of Architecture and Design with a conventional learning method can also adapt to e-Learning -virtual learning environments-. The e-Learning model as a Virtual Habitat founded on the framework of an architect’s work, is based on the theory of habitat and the circuit of occupation and production of space, which shows us how human beings coexist with their differences in the “so far” only habitable planet and how a new environment has developed "The Virtual Habitat". The model was evaluated through an experimental design that was carried out at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Universidad de las Americas, UDLA. in the Furniture Design course, where students learn the guidelines to improve the citizens’ quality of life through innovative furniture models that optimize the urban sectors of the city. The experiment sample consisted in twelve students who were divided into two groups. The first one, called the control group, followed a traditional learning model. The second group, called experimental group, followed a virtual learning model. As a standard evaluation mechanism, both groups solved a particular case. The result of the Pilot Model was positive and met the expectations.
