The present research is quantitative descriptive cross-sectional and search to estimate the level of anxiety in parents of children diagnosed with cancer in the city of Cartagena, the measurement of anxiety levels was obtained using the Hamilton scale, which consists of 14 ítems that evaluates two dimensions of the anxiety experience (psychic and somatic), the sample consisted of a total of 50 parents. Now, an existential interpretation of each of the dimensions contemplated in the measurement tool obtained is offered. With respect to the results, it was found that the levels of anxiety in the parents who made up the study sample indicate that the experience of anxiety for them is composed of both psychic and somatic manifestations, in this sense the results indicate that the 40 % of the population has low anxiety, 33.3% moderate anxiety and 26.7% a severe anxiety, although the level of consciousness in the parents varies, and this is corroborated in the results obtained, it is important to know that the confrontation (whether constructive or neurotic) and experience of anxiety depends directly on the way that the human being values and integrates this threat situation to the totality of his experience, it would explain the differences founded in the intensity of anxiety in the parens.
