It is common to see that the elderly suffer from serious eye problems that prevent them from having an independent life, making it necessary to have permanent company and assistance. The authors of the paper were inspired to work on it because of their proximity to a family of a 92 year old widow and her 52 year old son with Down syndrome with derived comorbidities with need of permanent assistance. The old lady developed an illness in the macula that significantly reduced her sight and deteriorated her quality of life. One of the immediate consequences was the inability to make phone calls to their family relations and request for goods or medicines. This situation led to the search for a cell phone app in which calls can be made with voice commands. Android voice assistants were analysed but none of them were adequate, so a tool was developed that helped them communicate with their family. We hope this app is a solution for people with visual or intellectual disabilities.
